About Discover Walks San Francisco

Discover Walks was originally started in Paris. We expanded to San Francisco to give visitors something exciting, something special, something to remember when they returned home. We wanted to give them a couple of special hours being with a real San Franciscan walking around San Francisco. The kind of experience you would have if you had a good friend who was a San Francisco native. Discover Walks walking tours are fun, informative and most of all, personal to you and your guide.

All of our Walks are with San Franciscans who know the city as only a native would – the landmarks, the side streets, today’s gossip and yesterday’s storied history. From 1906 Earthquake and the Golden gate Bridge to Willie Brown and Joe DiMaggio, only a San Franciscan can give the local perspective – as well as the best restaurants, best cafés to people-watch and where to get an authentic Mission burrito at midnight.

The goal of Discover Walks San Fransisco is to create an experience so good, so compelling that taking one of our Walks becomes the newest “Must Do” for all visitors to San Francisco.

Our staff’s job is to know San Francisco better than an English cabbie knows London. They do extensive training and pass written and oral tests. With the Guide’s insider information our Walks are great fun whether you are from LA or Boston, Australia or Argentina, France or Japan – or anywhere in between – Discover Walks guests come from everywhere to visit San Francisco!

Our Guides
add their personal stories to every walking tour in San Francisco, from what it’s like in a city high school to the restaurant they went to on their first date. Thus each Walk includes famous San Francisco landmarks as well as unique times when each guest “feels” San Francisco with a San Franciscan.

All of Discover Walks San Francisco walking tours are free of charge
– we make our living solely from tips from happy guests. You’re always welcome to join us – our Walks start and end at major city landmarks.

Our original founders
Alexandre Gourevitch (Paris native) and Jim Jorgensen (a Californian) represent the two spectrums of each Walk – the local and the guest. Today, our San Francisco Guides take great pride in constantly improving each Walk. We are especially thankful to our founding Discover Walks SF staff Danny, Kyle, Jessica, Nicki, and Chris for sticking with us at the beginning.

Discover Walks is a trademark of our owner Charing Cross Corporation (our lawyers made us put this in.)
